Hot Tubs in a UK Winter: Run It or Shut It Down Properly
Start winter planning with the instructions for your exact hot tub, controller and water-care system. An inflatable spa and a permanently installed hot tub should not be assumed to share operating limits.
Choose between continued use and closing down
Find the manufacturer's permitted ambient conditions, winter or freeze-protection instructions and servicing requirements. If the tub will remain in use, plan the checks it needs and who will perform them while you are away. A connected monitor does not replace the care or inspections required by the manufacturer.
Check running costs realistically
Do not assume that one temperature setting or an always-on routine is cheapest for every household. Compare the model's instructions with your usage, tariff and site conditions. There is no universal 4°C standby setting suitable for every spa.
If closing the spa for winter
Hot Spring advises following the model's instructions and considering professional winterisation. Draining the visible water is not proof that every internal water path has been cleared. Avoid a generic recipe for opening pump unions or blowing out pipework; ask the manufacturer or service provider for the exact procedure.

- Cover: shape, overall measurements, corner profile and fixing arrangement.
- Filter: exact cartridge reference and dimensions required by the spa.
- Water-care supplies: compatibility with the particular treatment system and its current instructions.
