The Zareba RSVT8 8-Light Voltage Tester quickly identifies fence line and charger voltages from 600 to 7,000 volts with an easy-to-read neon light display.
For anyone who maintains electric fencing—farmers, ranchers, or property managers—the RSVT8 offers a straightforward way to confirm your system is delivering the expected voltage. This compact tester works with both low-impedance and standard-duty fence chargers and helps you pinpoint faults, verify charger output, and monitor fence performance without complicated meters or setups.
Testing the live fence line is simple: insert the tester’s probe into the ground to establish a reference, then touch or hook the tester to the hot wire. The highest neon light that blinks shows the approximate voltage level, making it quick to assess whether the fence is energized.
Yes — to test the charger, touch the probe to the charger’s ground terminal and touch the metal hook to the charger’s fence terminal. The tester indicates the charger’s output across the same 600–7,000 volt range, helping you confirm the unit is producing proper pulses.
The RSVT8 is built to work with both low-impedance and standard-duty chargers commonly used on livestock and property perimeter fences. It’s a general-purpose tester that reads the high-voltage pulses these units produce without requiring special adapters.
By indicating voltage drops at different points along the circuit, the RSVT8 helps you localize shorts, vegetation contacts, or broken wires. Move along the fence and compare readings; sections with significantly lower lights show where attention is needed.
Who is this for: The Zareba RSVT8 is ideal for livestock owners, small-farm operators, ranch hands, and property managers who need a fast, practical way to verify electric fence performance and track down faults. If you want a rugged, user-friendly tool to check charger output and fence line voltage ranges during routine maintenance, the RSVT8 offers a reliable, no-frills solution.
Q: Does the RSVT8 give an exact voltage reading?
A: No, it shows voltage ranges via neon lights from 600 to 7,000 volts, useful for troubleshooting rather than precise measurements.
Q: Is the tester safe to use on all fence systems?
A: Yes for low-impedance and standard-duty chargers; follow safety steps and avoid wet conditions or touching live parts directly.
