Z & G's 14-inch billhook sickle machete is a compact, heavy-duty hand tool designed to cut brush, trim small branches, harvest, and clear grass with a hardened carbon steel blade and ergonomic handle.
This short billhook combines the slicing power of a machete with the hooked control of a traditional sickle. The 14-inch overall length and roughly 7-inch cutting edge make it maneuverable in tight garden beds, orchards, and around landscaping obstacles. Built from carbon steel and finished for durability, it’s made to handle repetitive yard tasks where reach isn't required but precision and force are.
The hooked blade geometry concentrates force at the cutting edge so the tool bites into stems, vines, and small saplings rather than sliding off. The heavy carbon steel construction keeps the edge under load and resists chipping during regular use.
Ergonomics prioritize control: the compact size reduces arm fatigue and the handle shape supports secure grips for repetitive cuts. A properly finished tang and handle join help minimize wobble and keep the blade aligned under load, but users should still wear gloves and eye protection when clearing thick brush.
Carbon steel gives great edge retention and toughness, but it needs basic care to prevent surface rust and keep the edge sharp. Regularly wiping the blade, applying a light oil coat after use, and occasional sharpening with a file or whetstone will extend service life.
Yes — its size and hook shape suit a range of manual tasks from harvesting cane and clearing trails to light pruning. It’s not a substitute for full-size axes or chainsaws for heavy timber, but it excels as a multipurpose hand tool for small-to-medium outdoor chores.
Who is this for: The Z & G billhook sickle machete is aimed at homeowners, gardeners, small-scale farmers, and outdoor enthusiasts who need a rugged, easy-to-control cutting tool for brush clearing, harvesting, and light chopping. It’s best for users who prefer a compact hand tool with a hooked blade profile for precise cutting in tight spaces rather than long-reach clearing.
Q: What material is the blade made from?
A: The blade is forged from carbon steel for toughness and good edge retention with basic care.
Q: Is the billhook suitable for chopping small trees?
A: It handles small branches and saplings well, but not large-diameter trees — use a saw or axe for heavy timber.
