Xtreme Gardening Mykos is a granular mycorrhizal root inoculant that helps plants build larger, denser root systems for improved nutrient and water uptake.
Mykos delivers a blend of beneficial mycorrhizal fungi formulated to colonize plant roots and expand the effective root zone. This OMRI-listed organic biofertilizer is made as a coarse granular inoculant for direct contact with roots, making it suitable for seedlings, transplants, container plants, and established garden beds. When used as directed, it supports stronger root architecture and more efficient access to soil resources without synthetic additives.
The mycorrhizal fungi in Mykos form microscopic networks that connect to plant roots, effectively increasing the surface area available for absorption. These fungal associations allow roots to explore a larger volume of soil, reaching moisture and minerals that roots alone might miss. Because the product is granular, you can place it where roots will encounter the fungi during planting or repotting for immediate contact.
Mykos is versatile across many plant categories — vegetables, herbs, ornamentals, fruit trees, shrubs, houseplants and container gardens all can benefit. It is helpful for seed starts and transplant plugs to give young roots an early microbial advantage. It’s also suitable for established plants that need improved access to scarce nutrients or moisture, especially in containerized or compacted soils.
Apply the granular inoculant so it contacts the root surface: mix into potting medium, place in the planting hole around roots, or dust directly onto bare roots before backfilling. Use the amount recommended for your container size or planting hole — the granules are designed to stay localized near roots to encourage colonization. Avoid burying the product too deep in heavy, waterlogged clay where fungal activity may be suppressed.
Yes — Mykos carries OMRI listing, indicating it meets standards for organic production when used as directed. It’s a microbial biofertilizer rather than a chemical nutrient source, so it works by enhancing natural root–microbe interactions. For best practice, use alongside balanced organic fertility and soil-building practices like compost and mulches.
Who this is for: gardeners and growers who want a straightforward, organic method to encourage stronger root systems and better resource access. Home vegetable gardeners, container growers, professional landscapers, and anyone replanting trees, shrubs or houseplants will find Mykos useful when they need a reliable root inoculant. It’s especially helpful in situations where soil biology is diminished or where faster establishment offers a competitive advantage, such as with transplants and seasonal crops.
