WildYard's extra-large 3-chamber bat house is a weatherproof cedar roost designed to host colonies of up to 200 bats, giving them a safe place to raise young while helping reduce night-flying insects near your yard.
This handcrafted black bat box combines roomy interior chambers with durable cedar construction so it stands up to rain, snow, and heat. It’s built for species that prefer communal roosts and includes stainless-steel mounting hardware for straightforward installation on poles, trees, or buildings. The box’s dark finish helps absorb warmth during cooler evenings while the multi-chamber layout mimics natural crevices where bats like to cluster.
The three separate chambers create vertical crevices and temperature variation that many bat species, especially maternity colonies, favor. The dark exterior and cedar interior retain gentle warmth, making it inviting at dusk and into the night. Placing it 12–20 feet high with clear flight paths increases occupancy chances.
WildYard uses naturally rot-resistant cedar that handles moisture and temperature cycles without quick degradation. Joints are crafted to keep water out while still allowing airflow to prevent overheating. Stainless-steel hardware is included to resist corrosion and simplify long-term mounting.
Installation is intended to be simple: secure the predrilled back panel to a pole, tree, or building using the included stainless-steel hardware. Positioning and height guidelines are supplied to improve adoption by bats. Maintenance is minimal—annual inspections for secure fastenings and debris removal are usually enough.
Attracting a bat colony can contribute to local insect control because bats feed on many night-flying insects. Results vary by region, species, and colony size, so it’s an ecological complement—not a guaranteed replacement for other pest measures. Placing the house near outdoor lighting and gardens can make it more effective at intercepting night-flying insects.
Who is this for: Homeowners, gardeners, and nature enthusiasts who want a long-lasting, large-capacity roosting box that supports local bat populations and offers an eco-friendly way to help reduce night-flying insects. It’s ideal for properties with open flight paths, minimal nighttime disturbance, and people willing to follow basic installation and placement guidance to maximize occupancy.
Q: How many bats will this house hold?
A: The extra-large three-chamber design can support up to about 200 bats, depending on species and colony density.
Q: Where should I mount the bat house?
A: Mount 12–20 feet high on a pole, building, or tree with a clear flight path and southern or eastern exposure for warmth.
