VivaGrow Codling Moth & Oriental Fruit Moth Trap is a two-pack pheromone lure system that attracts and captures codling moths and oriental fruit moths for up to eight weeks without pesticides.
Protecting apple, pear and stone fruit trees starts with interrupting pest activity before larvae damage fruit. These traps use species-specific pheromones to lure male moths into a sticky, enclosed trap—reducing mating and helping you monitor or lower local moth populations without chemical sprays. The set includes two ready-to-use traps with long-lasting, non-toxic lures suited to backyard orchards, small farms and home gardeners.
The trap attracts male moths using a concentrated pheromone blend, removing them from the breeding pool and lowering the chance of eggs being laid on fruit. While not a guaranteed eradication method, regular trapping over the season can significantly reduce infestations and make other controls more effective.
Hang traps in the tree canopy near fruiting branches, 4–6 feet above ground where moth activity is highest. Place traps in multiple trees across the orchard or garden to create a monitoring network; check every 1–2 weeks to count captures and replace the lure after about eight weeks or when effectiveness declines.
Yes—VivaGrow lures are pesticide-free and made from non-toxic ingredients designed to target only specific moth species. The enclosed sticky design reduces bycatch and keeps the pheromone localized, minimizing impact on pollinators and non-target organisms when deployed correctly.
Each pack contains two traps with lures rated for about eight weeks of effective attraction under typical conditions. For season-long management, plan to install traps at the start of moth flight and replace lures every eight weeks or when capture rates drop noticeably.
Who is this for? VivaGrow Codling Moth & Oriental Fruit Moth Trap (2 Pack, 8 Week) is designed for home orchardists, community gardeners, and small-scale fruit growers who want a non-chemical way to monitor and reduce moth pressure. If you manage apple, pear, peach, or nectarine trees and prefer targeted, safe pest control that integrates with pruning, sanitation and scouting, these traps offer a practical, low-toxicity tool to add to your pest-management plan.
Q: Can I use these traps near pollinator-attracting plants?
A: Yes. The pheromones are species-specific and the enclosed trap limits bycatch, so proper placement minimizes effects on pollinators.
Q: How often should I replace the lure?
A: Replace the lure every eight weeks or sooner if trap catches decline, especially during peak flight periods.
