Viagrow 16 qt coarse vermiculite is a sterile, asbestos-free soil amendment that improves moisture retention, aeration, and cation-exchange capacity for container, raised-bed, and soilless growing mixes.
Viagrow coarse vermiculite (#3 grade) is a lightweight, expanded mineral you mix into potting soil, seed-starting mixes, greenhouse media, or hydroponic substrates to hold water and nutrients where roots can access them. It was mined and packaged in the U.S.A., rigorously tested for safety, and formulated to help substrates stay friable while supplying slow-release potassium and magnesium. Use it alone for germination or combine it with perlite and coconut coir to build balanced, well-draining mixes.
Vermiculite holds moisture evenly around seeds and tender roots without compacting, which keeps oxygen available while preventing dry pockets. Its sterile nature reduces the risk of soil-borne pests and diseases during early growth stages.
Yes — mixing Viagrow vermiculite into container media improves water retention and reduces compaction while still allowing drainage. It pairs especially well with perlite and coconut coir to create a balanced, reusable potting blend.
Viagrow vermiculite is mined from asbestos-free sources and undergoes testing to ensure safety. Its mineral structure attracts and holds positively charged nutrient ions such as potassium and magnesium, making them more available to roots over time.
Vermiculite is compatible with many hydroponic and raised-bed setups where water-holding capacity and gentle aeration are beneficial. In drip or wicking systems it helps distribute moisture uniformly and supports root zone stability in soilless substrates.
Who is this for? Viagrow 16 qt coarse vermiculite suits hobbyists and professional growers who need a reliable, sterile amendment to improve water retention, aeration, and nutrient-holding capacity in seed-starting trays, container gardens, raised beds, greenhouse mixes, and select hydroponic systems. It’s especially helpful for gardeners building their own potting blends, people starting seeds indoors, and anyone seeking a stable, tested mineral to keep substrates light and moisture-retentive.
Q: Can I use Viagrow vermiculite for seed starting?
A: Yes. It’s sterile, holds moisture evenly, and promotes gentle aeration for reliable germination.
Q: Is this vermiculite asbestos-free?
A: Yes. Viagrow vermiculite is mined from asbestos-free sources and is rigorously tested for safety.
