The Trece Citrus Leafminer Trap Kit is a three-pack pheromone trapping system designed to attract and capture Citrus Leafminer moths (Phyllocnistis citrella) so you can reduce leaf mining damage without routine chemical sprays.
Healthy foliage is essential for productive citrus trees, and leafminer larvae tunnel in young leaves, causing distortion and reduced vigor. Trece’s kit pairs species-specific lures with sticky delta traps and hangers, enabling targeted mass trapping that interrupts the pest’s lifecycle. The traps are simple to deploy and are suitable for use in organic production or home orchards where non-chemical control is preferred.
The kit uses a synthesized sex pheromone that mimics what female leafminers release to attract males. Males entering the trap get stuck to the adhesive surface and are removed from the breeding population, which reduces mating and subsequent egg-laying in new foliage.
Place traps in the shady part of the tree canopy near new flush growth where leafminers prefer to lay eggs. Begin trapping as soon as new shoots appear in spring and continue through periods of active leaf flushing; replace lures every 60 days or sooner in hot climates.
The three-pack contains three sticky delta traps, three pheromone lures, and hangers, plus instructions for setup and use. Each lure typically remains effective up to eight weeks (around 60 days), though extreme heat can shorten its active life.
Yes—these traps are formulated for Citrus Leafminer and can be used on oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, and other susceptible citrus species. Because they rely on pheromones and passive trapping instead of sprayable pesticides, they are compatible with organically managed groves and home organic plantings.
Who is this for: The Trece Citrus Leafminer Trap Kit is intended for citrus growers, home orchardists, and organic producers who want a low-toxicity, species-targeted tool to monitor and reduce Citrus Leafminer pressure. If you manage trees that regularly flush new growth and want a straightforward, low-maintenance method to limit leafminer reproduction without broad-spectrum insecticides, this kit provides a practical component of an integrated pest management strategy.
Q: How often should I replace the lure?
A: Replace the pheromone lure about every 60 days; hotter weather can shorten effectiveness.
Q: Will this trap harm beneficial insects?
A: No. The lure targets Citrus Leafminer specifically and the trap minimizes non-target captures.
