The Taylor K-1770 is a compact calcium hardness titration kit that measures calcium levels with one-drop = 10 ppm accuracy and built-in metal-interference inhibitors.
Keeping pool and spa water within the correct calcium hardness range protects surfaces, equipment, and water balance. The Taylor Technologies K-1770 Test Kit was designed for commercial, institutional, laboratory and residential settings that need a reliable, titration-based measurement. Its EDTA titration method provides clear end-point readings and includes inhibitors to reduce errors caused by dissolved metals.
The kit uses an EDTA titration that binds calcium ions until the indicator reaches a defined end point. Each drop of titrant corresponds to 10 ppm calcium, making it easy to calculate total hardness from the number of drops used.
Taylor includes specific inhibitors that mask or chelate interfering metal ions so they do not react with the indicator. This reduces false highs and improves accuracy in waters with trace copper, iron or other metals.
The kit is suitable for busy commercial pools as well as laboratories and home pools because the titration process is dependable and repeatable. Technicians and homeowners can follow the same drop-count method to record calcium hardness consistently.
Count the drops required to reach the titration end point and multiply by 10 to obtain ppm calcium hardness. Use that value to guide adjustments—such as adding calcium increaser or diluting and balancing water—to protect surfaces and equipment.
Who is this for: The Taylor K-1770 is ideal for pool service professionals, facility maintenance staff, laboratory technicians and diligent homeowners who need a compact, titration-based test with metal-interference protection. If you require repeatable calcium hardness readings and prefer a clear drop-count method, this kit delivers practical accuracy and portability.
Q: How many ppm does one drop equal?
A: One drop of the EDTA titrant equals 10 ppm calcium hardness.
Q: Will metals affect the test results?
A: The kit includes inhibitors specifically to minimize interference from metals like iron or copper.
