Little Miss Figgy is a compact, reliably productive dwarf fig tree that delivers sweet, dark-purple fruit in spring and fall while fitting easily into small gardens or containers.
Southern Living Plants’ Little Miss Figgy (Ficus carica ‘Little Miss Figgy’ PP27929) is a dwarf fig variety bred for home gardens. It produces smooth, richly colored figs with strawberry-red interiors and a sweet flavor, and it performs well across a broad climate range when given appropriate winter protection and summer sun. This 2-gallon potted specimen ships dormant in late winter to early spring and is trimmed to promote healthy growth after planting.
This cultivar stays reasonably small compared with standard fig trees, making it suitable for tighter landscape spaces or large containers. Expect a mature height between about 4 and 8 feet and a spread near 3 to 4 feet, which allows for close planting or use as an accent specimen.
Little Miss Figgy is adapted to a wide range of growing zones, tolerating both warm summers and cooler winters when planted in recommended zones. It performs best in USDA zones 7a through 10b and can be mulched or wrapped for extra winter protection where temperatures dip near zone limits.
This variety sets attractive dark-purple fruit with sweet flesh that ripens during multiple seasons. You can expect a reliable spring crop and additional fruiting; figs are best eaten fresh within a few days of harvest or used promptly in preserves and desserts.
Plant in well-draining soil with full sun exposure; give the young tree regular water while it establishes, then moderate irrigation once established. Prune lightly to shape and remove dead wood; because plants ship trimmed, initial growth will quickly fill in when given proper care.
Who is this tree for? Little Miss Figgy is targeted at home gardeners who want reliable, sweet figs without the size of standard trees—perfect for suburban yards, small urban gardens, or patio containers. It suits gardeners in USDA zones 7a–10b who seek a low-to-moderate maintenance fruit tree that produces appealing, flavorful fruit in both spring and fall. If you want an attractive landscape accent that doubles as a productive edible plant, this compact Southern Living fig offers seasonally repeating harvests and easy placement in tighter spaces.
