The Rain Bird PGA 1 in. inline/angle valve with flow control (model 100-PGA) is a compact, rugged PVC irrigation valve that gives reliable on/off control and adjustable flow for residential and light-commercial sprinkler systems.
This valve combines a globe or angle body with an internal flow regulator and a captured solenoid design so you can manage water delivery with fewer service visits. It accepts a latching solenoid for battery-operated controllers, supports an optional field-installed pressure-regulating module, and features slow-closing performance to reduce water hammer. Built for irrigation installers and property managers, the PGA balances durability with simple field servicing.
The PGA helps maintain consistent sprinkler behavior by offering adjustable flow and optional pressure regulation at the control point. Its design filters pilot flow and limits sudden shutoff forces, which protects downstream sprinkler heads and piping from pressure spikes.
The PGA series is available in globe and angle configurations for flexible placement, fitting common 1" FPT connections. Its PVC construction and captured solenoid make it straightforward to install and service in valve boxes for both inline runs and angle-mounted setups.
Follow Rain Bird recommendations to keep supply-line velocity below 7.5 ft/s to minimize water hammer effects. For very low flows, use upstream filtration to protect the diaphragm and consider turning the flow-control stem partially closed to stabilize operation.
The PGA valve was designed for rapid field service: the solenoid is a one-piece unit with captive parts and pilot filtering resists clogging. A manual internal bleed and slow-close operation also make testing and adjustments easier without repeatedly cycling the main controller.
Who is this for? The Rain Bird PGA 1 in. valve is ideal for irrigation contractors, landscape professionals, and homeowners managing residential or light-commercial sprinkler systems who need a dependable, service-friendly control valve. It suits installations where pressure regulation, low maintenance, and clear identification of nonpotable lines (with purple flow-control handles) are important. Choose the PGA when you want a compact valve that balances adjustability, debris resistance, and straightforward field servicing.
Q: Can the PGA valve work with battery-operated controllers?
A: Yes. The PGA accepts a latching solenoid compatible with Rain Bird battery-operated controllers up to 150 psi.
Q: Do I need a filter with low flow rates?
A: Rain Bird recommends upstream filtration for flows below 5 GPM to avoid debris collecting below the diaphragm.
