White Desert Rose (Adenium obesum) is a sculptural, flowering succulent with a thick caudex and trumpet-shaped white blooms, grown in a 1-gallon pot for easy display indoors or outdoors.
Native to arid regions of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, this White Desert Rose offers dramatic form and seasonal color with a bonsai-like trunk and bright trumpet flowers. It’s prized for architectural interest as much as for its blooms, making it a versatile choice for sunny windowsills, patios, or xeriscape gardens. The plant ships in a 1-gallon grower pot and arrives ready to brighten a home or outdoor container where warmth and light are plentiful.
White Desert Rose thrives in bright, direct light and performs best with several hours of full sun each day. Insufficient light reduces flowering and can cause leggy growth, while strong sun encourages compact shape and prolific blooms.
As a succulent, the Desert Rose prefers a soak-and-dry routine: water deeply, then allow the topsoil to dry before watering again. Use a fast-draining, sandy potting mix to prevent root rot and reduce watering frequency during cooler months when the plant is dormant.
Light pruning encourages branching and a fuller silhouette while removing dead or damaged wood improves overall vigor. Feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer during active growth to support flowering, but stop heavy feeding in winter when growth slows.
Desert Roses are warmth-loving and sensitive to frost, so bring plants indoors or provide frost protection when temperatures approach freezing. Watch for common pests like mealybugs and aphids, and treat promptly with gentle insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if needed.
Who is this plant for? The White Desert Rose by Plants for Pets is ideal for gardeners and design-minded plant parents who want a low-to-moderate maintenance specimen that doubles as living decor. It suits sunny indoor spaces, small patios, and drought-tolerant landscapes and rewards those who can provide bright light, warm temperatures, and well-draining soil. Whether you’re building a succulent collection, creating a dramatic centerpiece, or adding an architectural accent to your space, this Adenium delivers sculptural form and seasonal white blooms with relatively simple care.
Q: Can I keep the Desert Rose indoors year-round?
A: Yes, if placed in a very bright spot and kept above 60°F; provide direct sun and reduced winter water.
Q: How often should I repot the plant?
A: Repot every 2–3 years or when rootbound, using a well-draining mix and a pot with drainage holes.
