The Perfect Plants Eastern Redbud is a 4–5 ft live, deciduous flowering tree that produces abundant rose-purple spring blooms and develops into a graceful 20–30 ft specimen.
Known botanically as Cercis canadensis, this Eastern Redbud arrives as a multi-trunk young tree that establishes quickly in landscapes across USDA zones 4–9. It’s prized for its early spring display of vivid pink flowers that appear before the leaves, followed by heart-shaped foliage that shifts from blue-green in summer to greenish-yellow in fall. The tree is a low-maintenance choice for specimen planting, streetscapes, and pollinator-friendly gardens; each shipment from Perfect Plants includes a specialty fertilizer blend and a planting guide to help ensure a strong start.
This tree is well suited to constrained spaces because of its moderate mature size and multi-stemmed habit, making it a popular option for smaller properties and urban plantings. Its canopy provides seasonal interest without overwhelming compact lots.
Eastern Redbud is adaptable but thrives best in medium, well-drained soils with full sun to partial shade exposure. Regular watering while establishing and occasional supplemental moisture during hot, dry periods will keep the tree healthy.
Flowers appear early in spring, often before leaves unfurl, producing a striking rose-purple display. After flowering, heart-shaped leaves emerge and remain blue-green through summer before turning a greenish-yellow in autumn.
Your purchase includes the live 4–5 ft Eastern Redbud, a special blend fertilizer for planting, and a step-by-step planting guide from Perfect Plants. Note: due to state regulations, shipments cannot be sent to California or Arizona.
Who is this for? The Perfect Plants Eastern Redbud is ideal for homeowners, landscape designers, and municipal planners who want a reliable, showy spring-blooming tree that offers seasonal interest and supports pollinators. Choose this cultivar if you need a low-maintenance specimen or street tree that performs well in a variety of soils and light conditions, and enjoy years of early-season color and graceful form.
