Outsidepride Crimson Clover Seeds are a 10 lb bag of nitrocoated, inoculated annual crimson clover ideal for forage, cover cropping, wildlife food plots, pastures, and soil-building ground cover.
Crimson clover is a multi-use, cool-season annual that produces dense, nitrogen-rich foliage and vibrant red blooms. This Outsidepride seed is non-GMO, heirloom, coated for easier planting and improved germination, and inoculated to boost early root nodulation. Use it alone or mixed with grasses and other legumes to support wildlife forage, livestock nutrition, pollinators, and soil health across a variety of soil types.
Plant timing depends on your objective: fall seeding gives winter grazing and spring biomass, while early spring sowing yields quick forage and attractive bloom. Choose a well-prepared seedbed with good seed-to-soil contact and avoid deep planting; crimson clover prefers shallow placement.
Crimson clover fixes atmospheric nitrogen through root nodules, improving soil fertility without synthetic inputs. It produces a fibrous root system that reduces erosion, increases organic matter when turned under, and enhances subsequent grass or grain stands in cover-crop rotations.
Yes—crimson clover is highly palatable and nutrient-dense, attracting deer, rabbits, and other wildlife while providing valuable forage for livestock. Its bright flowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinators, making it a dual-purpose choice for forage and habitat enhancement.
Prepare a firm, weed-free seedbed, broadcast or drill the seed shallowly, and ensure adequate moisture during establishment. Monitor for early competition from weeds; occasional mowing or light grazing can help manage growth and encourage tillering in mixed stands.
Who is this for: Outsidepride Crimson Clover Seeds are tailored for landowners, farmers, hunters, and conservation-minded gardeners who need an easy-to-establish, non-GMO annual for pasture improvement, cover cropping, hay, and wildlife food plots. Choose this 10 lb nitrocoated, inoculated bag if you want reliable germination, improved nitrogen cycling, and a versatile seed that supports forage production and pollinators without complex inputs.
Q: Can I plant this in clay soil?
A: Yes. Crimson clover tolerates clay and sandy soils and performs well in medium acidity when seeded shallowly with good seed-to-soil contact.
Q: How much seed do I need per acre?
A: Use 20–30 lbs per acre for a full stand, or 1/2–3/4 lb per 1,000 sq ft for small plots or mixes.
