NyPots Automatic Chicken Coop Door — Solar Powered, Timer & Light Sensor, 8.2x9.6in Opening, Anti-Pinch Safety

NyPots Automatic Chicken Coop Door is a solar-powered, timer-and-light-sensor controlled opener that safely automates coop access for small poultry.

This compact, weather-resistant coop door combines a rechargeable solar panel with a built-in battery, LCD controls, and anti-pinch detection to open and close reliably on a schedule or by ambient light. Designed for easy installation and everyday convenience, the unit fits most small coop openings and supports manual override and remote control for flexible use.

How does the NyPots door automate opening and closing?

The unit offers two primary automation modes: timed scheduling with the built-in digital clock and light-sensor activation that responds to dawn and dusk. You can program specific open/close times or let the sensor react to natural light, giving predictable operation even when you’re away.

• Choose timer mode to set exact open/close times via the LCD interface.
• Select light-sensor mode to have the door respond to sunrise and sunset levels.
• Combined settings let you prioritize one mode or fall back to the other for added reliability.

Is the door reliable in bad weather or during power outages?

The door is primarily solar-powered and includes a rechargeable internal battery plus a charging cable for auxiliary power when needed. This dual-power approach maintains function through overcast stretches and provides a failover option during prolonged bad weather.

• Solar panel charges the internal battery during daylight hours.
• Included cable allows plug-in charging for peace of mind in low-sun periods.
• Aluminum alloy and ABS construction resists corrosion and environmental wear.

What safety features protect my birds during operation?

Safety is addressed with an anti-pinch detection system that senses resistance during closing and temporarily reverses movement to prevent injury. Audible beeps alert you if the door fails to close completely, and manual override lets you control the door directly when needed.

• Anti-pinch reverses and retries closing when an obstruction is detected.
• Beep alerts notify you of incomplete closure or mechanical issues.
• Manual mode and remote control allow immediate human intervention.

How easy is installation and what coop sizes will it fit?

Installation is straightforward and typically takes under ten minutes with the included screws and template. The opening measures 8.2 inches wide by 9.6 inches high when fully open, making it suitable for chickens, ducks, geese and small poultry—turkeys and heavier birds are not recommended.

• Opening size: 8.2" wide x 9.6" high when door is raised.
• Recommended maximum poultry weight: under 10 lbs for reliable operation.
• Works with most coop mesh types and mounts using common hardware.
