You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.

Built in the USA for landscape professionals, turf managers, and serious gardeners, this handheld compaction meter delivers a clear numeric and color-coded readout to evaluate soil resistance from 0 to over 300 psi. Rugged molded housing, rubber-grip handles and an adjustable shock collar make it durable in the field, while two self-storing tips let you adapt the probe to soft or firm soils.
The SCT uses a pressure gauge with color bands that translate psi readings into practical categories: Good, Fair, or Poor. You get immediate, visual feedback so you can decide whether aeration, irrigation changes, or other cultural practices are needed.
Design choices focus on durability and repeatability: a molded housing protects internal parts, rubber-grip handles improve control during insertion, and an adjustable shock collar guards the gauge during transport and storage. The solid 24" probe reaches below surface layers to reveal subsurface compaction that affects roots.
The SCT includes two self-storing tips so you can adapt the instrument to a wide range of soils. A 3/4" tip works best in softer, loose soils while the 1/2" tip is better suited for firmer, compacted earth. Swapping tips is quick and keeps readings consistent across test points.
Quantified compaction readings help prioritize operations such as aeration, irrigation scheduling, and root zone amendments. Knowing psi values beneath the surface allows targeted interventions rather than broad, costly treatments.
Who is this for? The AgraTronix 08180 SCT is suited to turf managers, groundskeepers, landscapers, agronomists, golf course superintendents and committed home gardeners who need a robust, portable way to quantify subsurface compaction. If you make decisions about aeration, irrigation, or soil amendment and want repeatable, field-ready measurements, this tester gives clear, actionable data in a durable package.
Q: What psi ranges indicate good, fair, and poor soil?
A: 0–200 psi is Good, 200–300 psi is Fair, and over 300 psi is Poor.
Q: Does the tester include different tips for soil types?
A: Yes — it includes a 3/4" tip for soft soil and a 1/2" tip for firm soil.
