Jonathan Green Blue Panther Southern Lawn Grass Seed — 7 lb blend for dense, heat-tolerant dark-green turf

Jonathan Green Blue Panther Southern Lawn Grass Seed is a 7 lb blend designed to establish dense, dark-green turf in southern and transitional climates.

Blue Panther combines Bermudagrass, Texas bluegrass, and tall fescue in a single seed mix created for yards that need summer heat resilience and winter color. The formula encourages a uniform leaf texture, tolerates regular foot traffic, and covers new lawns up to 3,250 sq. ft. (or up to 6,500 sq. ft. when overseeding). Germination typically occurs within two to three weeks when given consistent moisture and appropriate sunlight.

How quickly will Blue Panther seed sprout and establish a lawn?

Expect visible germination in about 14–21 days under ideal conditions. Full establishment depends on temperature, watering, and soil contact, so plan on several months for a mature, traffic-ready turf.

• Typical germination: 14–21 days
• Watering: keep seedbed moist 2–3 times daily until sprouts appear
• Sunlight: performs best in full sun to partial shade
• Establishment timeline: several months for thick, resilient turf

Which grasses are in this mix and why were they chosen?

Blue Panther blends Bermudagrass, Texas bluegrass, and tall fescue to balance seasonal performance. Bermudagrass provides summer heat tolerance, Texas bluegrass adds cooler-season color, and tall fescue helps fill and thicken the lawn for a consistent appearance.

• Bermudagrass (cynodon dactylon) — thrives in warm months and high temperatures
• Texas bluegrass — contributes winter color and finer leaf texture
• Tall fescue — promotes density and wear tolerance in cooler periods
• Combined to provide year-round appeal in southern and transitional zones

How much area will one 7 lb bag cover and how should I apply it?

One 7 lb bag will seed up to 3,250 sq. ft. for new lawns and up to 6,500 sq. ft. for overseeding existing turf. Preparation, even spreading, and consistent watering are key to good results.

• New lawn coverage: up to 3,250 sq. ft.
• Overseeding coverage: up to 6,500 sq. ft.
• Best sowing times: spring or early fall for southern climates
• Application tip: loosen soil, remove debris, spread seed evenly, keep moist until germinated

What growing conditions and maintenance will keep Blue Panther healthy?

This mixture prefers full sun to partial shade and routine moisture during germination. After establishment, adjust mowing, watering, and fertilization to local climate and usage to maintain a dark-green, even lawn.

• Light: full sun to partial shade preferred
• Water: frequent shallow watering during germination; deep, infrequent watering once established
• Mow to recommended heights for mixed grasses to preserve density and health
• Fertilize seasonally following soil test recommendations for best color and vigor
