The Hiblow HP-80 is an 80 LPM linear air pump designed for pond aeration and aerobic septic systems, offering quiet, energy-efficient oxygen delivery and long-lasting diaphragms.
The HP-80 from Hiblow replaces models such as the Gast SPP-80 and Thomas 5078/5080 and is engineered for steady, low-vibration performance in both pond and septic aeration applications. Built as a linear diaphragm pump, it balances low power draw with reliable airflow to support ponds up to about 1/2 acre (at 10 feet depth) or many 500 GPD aerobic septic systems. Hiblow focuses on serviceability and durability; diaphragms and modular components make maintenance straightforward and extend usable life compared to many competitors.
The HP-80 delivers approximately 80 liters per minute (LPM) of continuous air flow, suitable for medium-sized ponds and many aerobic septic installations. Coverage depends on diffuser type, water depth, and tubing layout, but typical pond service is up to 1/2 acre at 10 feet deep.
Yes—HP-80 pumps are built for low electrical consumption and minimal noise and vibration, making them appropriate for outdoor UL-rated installations or sheltered pump housings. The linear design reduces pulsation, so you get steady aeration with less disturbance to surrounding areas.
Hiblow HP models are serviceable and can be rebuilt multiple times—diaphragms are designed for longer life and can be replaced in the field. Hiblow provides resources and tutorials to guide routine maintenance and diaphragm replacement, extending total service life at a fraction of replacement cost.
Selecting the right tubing diameter and diffuser style optimizes oxygen transfer and pump life. Hiblow recommends medium-bubble diffusers and specific tubing diameters based on run length to preserve backpressure and maintain efficient airflow.
Who is this for: The Hiblow HP-80 suits homeowners and contractors who need a robust, serviceable aeration pump for medium ponds or aerobic septic systems. Choose this model if you want a proven replacement for older Gast or Thomas units, need low-noise outdoor operation, and value long diaphragm life with accessible rebuild options.
Q: Can the HP-80 run outdoors year-round?
A: Yes, the HP-80 is UL-rated for outdoor use in protected installations; winterizing and sheltering from direct weather extends life.
Q: What tubing size should I use for long runs?
A: Use 1/2" ID tubing for 50–100' runs and 3/4" ID for distances over 100' to maintain airflow.
