HAVAHART Large 1-Door Easy Set Live Animal Trap - Galvanized Steel, One-Handed Set

This one-door cage combines durable construction with an accessible trigger system to safely contain medium-sized wildlife — raccoons, opossums, armadillos, stray cats, groundhogs and similar animals. Built from rust-resistant, reinforced wire mesh with a solid steel door and smooth internal edges, the trap is intended to protect both the animal and the user while keeping bait secure and preventing escapes. The design is field-tested and assembled in the U.S.A., making it a reliable choice for homeowners and professionals seeking a humane live-capture solution.

How does the Easy Set mechanism make trapping simpler?

The patent-pending Easy Set technology allows you to set and release the trap with one hand in a single smooth motion, reducing time near the trap and minimizing stress on captured animals. The spring-loaded door and sensitive trigger close quickly once the animal fully enters, increasing capture success while lowering the chance of partial catches.

• One-handed set and release for safer handling
• Sensitive trigger to activate door promptly
• Spring-loaded closure for secure containment
• 1-door layout encourages full entry before closing

What features protect animals and users during capture and transport?

Safety is built into the trap: internal edges are smoothed to reduce injury risk, and an exterior handle guard keeps hands away from the animal during movement. The solid door and sturdy frame prevent bending or accidental openings while transporting captured wildlife to relocation or sheltering sites.

• Smoothed interior wire to prevent cuts or abrasion
• Handle guard for secure, hands-off transport
• Reinforced steel door resists deformation
• Galvanized finish minimizes rust exposure over time

Which animals is this trap best suited for and why?

Sized and engineered for medium-sized animals, the HAVAHART 1085 is effective on species such as raccoons, opossums, armadillos, groundhogs, and stray or feral cats. Mesh spacing is tighter than many comparable models, which helps keep bait protected and prevents smaller animals from slipping through or stealing the lure.

• Appropriate size for raccoons, groundhogs, opossums, armadillos, stray cats
• Tighter mesh reduces bait theft and escape attempts
• Single-door encourages full entry for higher catch rates
• Durable materials withstand repeated field use

How durable is the trap for outdoor, repeated use?

Constructed from galvanized one-piece wire mesh with steel reinforcements, the trap resists rust and corrosion for long-term outdoor service. The robust build and solid door reduce wear and deformation, so the unit retains reliable function season after season.

• Galvanized mesh for corrosion resistance
• Reinforced steel door for structural integrity
• Heavy-duty wire resists bending and damage
• Field-tested design for dependable performance
