Pink Icing is a Bushel and Berry selection prized as much for its foliage as for its fruit. In spring the new leaves flush in soft pinks blended with blue-green tones, while winter foliage shifts to an eye-catching iridescent turquoise blue. It produces canes each spring and sets fruit on last year’s growth, making annual winter pruning a simple way to encourage steady berry production and tidy structure. This #2 container plant arrives rooted and ready for the garden, patio pot, or a mixed ornamental border.
Pink Icing was selected for visual impact across seasons rather than only in fruiting months. New spring leaves show pink highlights that contrast with deeper foliage, summer brings classic blue-green texture, and winter foliage reveals turquoise-blue tones that read like living sculpture in mass plantings.
Pink Icing is adaptable but performs best with attention to soil acidity, light, and winter pruning. It thrives in USDA Zones 5–10 and tolerates partial shade to full sun; brighter light typically gives stronger coloration and better berry set.
Care is straightforward: water to keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged, mulch to preserve acidity and moisture, and fertilize with products formulated for acid-loving shrubs. The plant fruits on last year’s canes, so remove canes that have borne fruit after harvest to encourage new fruiting wood.
Your #2 (2-gallon) Pink Icing arrives ready to plant; choose a sheltered site with acidic soil and adequate light. Containers suit patios and small yards, while plantings in mass or paired with Peach Sorbet create layered foliage color and repeated visual interest through the year.
Who is this for? Pink Icing is ideal for gardeners who want an attractive, compact edible shrub that contributes year-round color as well as summer berries. Choose this plant if you value seasonal foliage shifts, have acidic soil or can provide ericaceous potting medium, and want a low-footprint blueberry for containers, borders, or ornamental massing in USDA Zones 5–10.
Q: Is Pink Icing suitable for containers?
A: Yes. Sold in a #2 (2-gallon) container, it performs well in decorative pots using acidic potting mix and regular watering.
Q: When should I prune Pink Icing?
A: Prune during winter dormancy, removing canes that fruited to encourage new growth that will bear next season’s berries.
