Gerta 30QT Horticultural Perlite is a coarse, organic 3–6mm volcanic amendment that improves soil aeration, drainage, and root development for indoor and outdoor plants.
If your pots, raised beds, or seed trays are compacted, slow-draining, or prone to root problems, this bulk bag of coarse perlite mixes easily into potting soils to reduce compaction and increase oxygen and water movement. Harvested from naturally expanded volcanic glass, Gerta perlite is lightweight, sterile, and designed for gardeners who need a reliable soil conditioner in a convenient resealable 30-quart bag.
Coarse perlite adds persistent air space while still holding some moisture near roots, creating a balanced environment for most houseplants and container-grown crops. It won’t compact over time, so roots can breathe and spread freely.
Yes — the coarse 3–6mm grade gives seedlings and cuttings a supportive, airy substrate that encourages branching root growth instead of a single long taproot. It’s especially useful for layered seed mixes and for keeping tiny seeds evenly distributed.
Gerta perlite is non-toxic and odorless, but dry perlite can be dusty. Rinsing or wetting before use will minimize airborne dust during mixing. Store the resealable bag in a dry place to keep the product clean and ready for repeat use.
Who is this for? Gerta 30QT Horticultural Perlite is made for home growers, hobbyist gardeners, and professional plant caretakers who want a reliable, inert amendment to enhance aeration and drainage. It’s suited to indoor houseplants, seed starting, rooting cuttings, container vegetables, and raised beds where better water-oxygen exchange is needed without adding weight or fertilizer. If you’re replacing compacted soil, improving container mixes, or creating a light rooting medium, this coarse perlite provides an easy, long-lasting solution backed by a resealable bag and short-term quality assurance.
Q: What ratio should I mix Gerta perlite into potting soil?
A: For general potting, mix 10–30% perlite by volume. Use higher ratios (30–50%) for succulents or cuttings.
Q: Does Gerta perlite need to be rinsed before use?
A: Rinse or moisten to reduce dust if desired; it’s safe to use dry but wetting improves handling.
