The Rinehart Gold Prospecting Sniper is a compact 1/4" hand dredge/sniffer bottle with a wrist lanyard designed to extract gravel and small nuggets from underwater cracks and crevices.
Built for targeted gold recovery where larger tools can't reach, this lightweight device combines a 5/16" OD inlet tube, a twist-out bulb chamber, and a tethered wrist strap so you can work hands-free while swimming or snorkelling. The tube extends up to 5" to probe deep seams, and the 2 oz collection chamber empties quickly into your pan. Its simplicity makes it useful both below and above the waterline whenever you need a controlled suction tool for focused prospecting.
The Sniper uses a narrow-diameter inlet and a manual bulb suction system to pull gravel, sand, and small pieces up to 1/4" through the tube and into the collection chamber. By extending the inlet up to 5" you can reach deeper voids without disturbing surrounding bedrock.
Yes — the included wrist lanyard keeps the unit secured while you move, so you don’t need to grip it constantly. Its 3 oz weight and compact profile make it easy to manoeuvre underwater and to tuck against your hand or body between uses.
The bulb unscrews for fast access to the 2 oz chamber so you can deposit concentrates straight into your pan. Routine rinsing after each outing prevents buildup and preserves suction performance over time.
Yes — it doubles as a dry sniffer bottle for above-water crevices and sluice maintenance. Flood a crack with water and use the Sniper’s suction to draw out trapped material that your pan or trowel can’t reach.
Who is this for? The Rinehart Gold Prospecting Sniper suits hobbyists and serious prospectors who focus on targeted recovery in tight spaces. If you regularly hunt seams, bedrock cracks, or riverbed crevices — especially where precision matters more than volume — this tool offers a low-cost, low-weight solution to retrieve fines and small nuggets without bulky dredge gear. It’s also handy as a backup sniffer bottle for sluice maintenance or above-water crevice work, making it a versatile addition to any field kit.
Q: What maximum particle size can the Sniper handle?
A: The inlet accepts material up to 1/4" diameter; the 5/16" OD tube feeds those particles into the chamber.
Q: Can I use the Sniper without holding it constantly?
A: Yes — the included wrist lanyard secures the unit so you can swim or dive hands-free.
