Apivar® 2.0 are controlled-release amitraz polymer strips designed to reduce Varroa destructor mite pressure in managed honey bee colonies when used according to label directions.
These four-pack Apivar 2.0 strips from Foxhound Bee Company provide a convenient, ready-to-place option for beekeepers who follow EPA-approved application guidelines. The product delivers amitraz via a polymer matrix so treatment is gradual and sustained for the labeled period. Apivar 2.0 is intended for use in standard brood chambers and requires no on-site mixing, making it a practical choice for hobbyist and commercial apiaries that need predictable varroa management as part of an integrated pest management plan.
Apivar 2.0 uses a polymer strip that slowly releases amitraz into the bee environment to contact parasitic Varroa mites. Worker bees moving past and around the strip transfer contact exposure throughout the colony, helping to reduce mite numbers across brood and adult bee populations during the treatment window.
Install Apivar 2.0 strips inside the brood chamber, positioning one strip between frames according to the EPA-approved label directions. Placement aims to intersect normal bee traffic, so the strips are best sited where nurse bees and emerging brood are active.
Apivar 2.0 is a registered pesticide product with state-dependent shipping rules and must be used strictly per the EPA-approved label. Avoid using with honey supers present and follow specified pre-harvest intervals and disposal guidance to comply with regulations and protect honey harvests.
Treatment duration is specified on the product label; the strip’s controlled-release design sustains amitraz presence across that labeled window. After removal, monitor mite levels with your preferred sampling method and schedule subsequent interventions based on colony size, season, and monitoring results.
Who is this for: Apivar 2.0 (4 strips) is intended for beekeepers managing Langstroth-style honey bee colonies who want an EPA-labeled amitraz treatment that’s simple to place and requires minimal handling. It suits hobbyists and production beekeepers who integrate chemical treatments into a broader varroa management plan and who will comply with label restrictions such as removing honey supers and observing pre-harvest intervals. Confirm shipping eligibility for your state before ordering and always follow the full product label for safe, effective application.
