CJGQ 29 Quarts Perlite is a lightweight, sterile volcanic mineral used to improve potting mix drainage and root aeration for healthier container plants and cuttings.
Perlite is an expanded volcanic glass that creates air pockets and improves water flow in soil mixes without adding nutrients or changing pH. Gardeners, indoor plant keepers, and hydroponic growers use perlite to prevent waterlogging, reduce compaction, and give roots the oxygen they need to develop. This 29-quart bag from CJGQ supplies enough amendment for multiple pots, seed trays, or raised bed blends.
By introducing coarse, porous particles into the soil, perlite increases pore space so excess water drains away and oxygen reaches roots. It doesn’t break down, so the improved structure lasts through several seasons. That means fewer root rot problems and reduced compaction compared with plain garden soil.
CJGQ perlite works well blended with potting soil, coco coir, or peat for general container plants, and is commonly used in seed starting and propagation where drainage and aeration are critical. It’s also compatible with hydroponic and soilless setups to stabilize root zones without altering nutrient content.
Recommended proportions depend on plant needs: succulents and cacti take higher ratios for quick drainage, while houseplants prefer milder additions. Use measured blends to tune moisture retention and aeration to each crop’s preference, and always adjust based on observed watering frequency and root health.
This product is sterile, pH-neutral, and non-toxic, making it safe for most horticultural uses when handled sensibly. Perlite produces fine dust when poured or mixed; use a dust mask or dampen the particles lightly to minimize airborne dust during potting. Rinse tools and hands after use and store the bag in a dry place to keep particles free-flowing.
Who is this for? CJGQ 29 Quarts Perlite is designed for hobby gardeners, professional growers, and indoor plant enthusiasts who want a dependable, long-lasting amendment to boost drainage and oxygen around roots. It’s ideal for anyone blending custom potting mixes, propagating cuttings, starting seeds, or using soilless culture and hydroponic systems.
Q: Can I use CJGQ perlite for succulents?
A: Yes. Use 30–50% perlite mixed with potting soil or coco for fast drainage and reduced root rot risk.
Q: Does CJGQ perlite change soil pH?
A: No. The product is pH neutral and sterile, so it won’t alter soil acidity or introduce pathogens.
