Chemboys DIYChemicals Sodium Thiosulfate is a 1 lb crystalline chlorine neutralizer formulated to quickly remove free chlorine and chloramine from water used in pools, hot tubs, aquariums, ponds, hydroponics, and plant irrigation.
Keep water safe for fish, sensitive plants, and hydroponic systems without altering pH: this laboratory-grade sodium thiosulfate (also known as a chlorine decreaser) neutralizes oxidizing chlorine compounds so you can use municipal or treated water with confidence. Packaged by Chemboys under the DIYChemicals label and made in the USA, the 1 lb bag is sized for hobbyists and small commercial tasks alike.
Sodium thiosulfate neutralizes chlorine through a chemical reduction reaction, converting free chlorine and chloramines into harmless chloride ions. The process is rapid when dissolved in water and dosed accurately, producing predictable results without raising water alkalinity.
Measure the required amount based on water volume and chlorine level; small hobby applications often need only a fraction of the bag. For routine dechlorination, dissolve the crystals in a separate container and add gradually while monitoring water conditions.
Sodium thiosulfate neutralizes oxidative disinfectants without significantly changing pH at typical dosing rates, and it generally does not bind major nutrient ions used in hydroponics. However, large overdoses can add extra sulfite/sulfate load, so moderate, measured use is best.
When handled per label instructions, sodium thiosulfate crystals are stable and safe for storage; they are non-flammable and non-corrosive in normal conditions. Keep the bag sealed, dry, and out of reach of children and pets, and avoid inhaling dust when scooping.
Who is this for: Chemboys DIYChemicals Sodium Thiosulfate 1 lb is ideal for hobby aquarists, pond keepers, small pool or hot tub owners, gardeners using municipal water, and hydroponic growers who need a reliable, made-in-USA solution to quickly neutralize chlorine and chloramines. If you need precise, on-demand dechlorination without complicated equipment, this compact 1 lb pack is a practical choice.
Q: How much sodium thiosulfate do I need to remove chlorine from 100 gallons?
A: Dose depends on chlorine concentration, but typically 1–2 teaspoons per 100 gallons for low municipal chlorine; always test and start with recommended small doses.
Q: Can I use this in hydroponics and on edible plants?
A: Yes, when used per directions to dechlorinate irrigation water; measure carefully to avoid excess sulfite residue.
