BYANE's 18-inch carbide-tipped chainsaw chain is a heavy-duty replacement chain with a .325" pitch, .063" gauge and 68 drive links engineered for long-lasting wood cutting in abrasive and frozen conditions.
This high-performance chain replaces standard steel chains on compatible 18" guide bars and is built for professionals and serious homeowners who need a cutter that resists dulling from grit, sand, and frozen hardwoods. Its carbide tips and chrome-plated leads increase service life and lower replacement frequency, but because carbide is much harder than steel it requires specific sharpening tools and careful use around metal. Before ordering, confirm your bar uses a .325" sprocket and a .063" gauge.
The main difference is the cutter material and construction: carbide tips brazed to precision bodies stay sharp far longer than typical steel cutters and resist abrasive wear. The chain also uses hardened rivets and chrome-plated leads for stability under heavy loads, which translates into fewer change-outs and more uninterrupted cutting time.
This cartridge is sized specifically for 18" guide bars with a .325" pitch, .063" gauge and it contains 68 drive links. It is a compatible replacement for many Stihl models like MS250, MS251, MS230, MS241C-M, and 025, but always check your bar and sprocket specs before purchase.
Carbide cutters require a diamond-coated sharpener rather than a standard steel file because of their extreme hardness. Routine maintenance focuses on debris removal, checking for chipped tips, and sharpening with the appropriate diamond tool to preserve the cutting geometry.
The chain is optimized exclusively for wood cutting. Tungsten carbide is extremely hard but more brittle than steel; impacts with nails, wire, fencing, or stones can chip or shatter the tips. Following use and safety recommendations will protect both the chain and operator.
Who is this for? This BYANE 18" carbide-tipped chain is best for professional arborists, land-clearing crews, contractors, and demanding property owners who regularly encounter abrasive or frozen timber and need to minimize downtime from frequent chain changes. It’s also a smart option for operators who value longer cutting life per chain and are willing to use the correct diamond sharpening tools and follow the precautions for carbide-equipped chains.
Q: Can I sharpen this chain with a regular file?
A: No. Sharpen carbide cutters only with a 3/16" (4.8 mm) diamond-coated sharpener; steel files won't work.
Q: Is this chain safe for cutting wood with nails or wire?
A: Avoid nails and wire; carbide tips are brittle and can chip or shatter on metal contact.
