Peppermint brings bright green, aromatic leaves and a clean mint flavor to your kitchen garden. These live plants arrive ready to root into pots or beds and thrive best in full sun to part shade. Because peppermint spreads vigorously, growing it in containers helps control its reach while keeping fresh harvests within easy reach.
Peppermint is a hardy perennial in USDA zones 3–11 and tolerates light frost, making it versatile across many climates. It prefers moist, well-draining soil and does well in either full sun or part shade, so it adapts to sunny patios and shadier corners alike.
Harvest regularly to encourage bushier growth and stronger flavor. Pinch or snip stems above a set of leaves; leaving a few nodes ensures the plant reshoots quickly. Frequent, light harvests keep the plant productive and compact.
Peppermint spreads through stolons and can become invasive when planted directly in the garden. The simplest method to keep it contained is to grow each transplant in its own pot or use an in-ground barrier if you prefer bed planting.
Peppermint is forgiving but responds to steady care: consistent moisture, occasional feeding, and pruning. In colder regions it will die back in winter and return in spring; in warmer climates it may stay evergreen and continue producing leaves.
Who is this for: The Bonnie Plants Peppermint 4-pack is perfect for home cooks, tea lovers, container gardeners, and anyone who wants a ready-to-grow, low-fuss herb that delivers fresh mint flavor. It suits balcony gardeners and backyard growers who want easy, aromatic herbs without extensive garden maintenance, especially when containment is desired to prevent spreading.
Q: Is Bonnie Plants peppermint safe for pets?
A: Peppermint is generally pet friendly in the garden, but watch animal ingestion and consult your veterinarian if pets eat large amounts.
Q: Can I plant peppermint directly in the ground?
A: You can, but peppermint spreads quickly; use containers or root barriers to prevent it from taking over beds.
